Becoming a Guest Artist
We've been begging shamelessly for contributions from artist friends and have received some questions from others about how they might become guest artists without the invite. This guide is put together for such people.
There are two ways in which guest contributors can submit golem designs to us.
There are two ways in which guest contributors can submit golem designs to us.
submitting via the golem creator
The Golem Creator is an event run by Temael, one of our mascots. Every round, he will put together prompts – in the form of materials lists – for the kinds of golems that he wants to see. Guest artists can pick a prompt that they like and submit a golem design that reflects their chosen theme. The full details of how this initiative works can be found by clicking on the Golem Creator post itself. The latest ongoing round can always be accessed from the home page of our deviantArt account.
The Golem Creator might be limiting in this way, but the rewards are higher, and it really was created for artists who are unable to purchase our items with money. However, to date, most of the guest golems that we have released come from very generous friends that we begged. These guest contributors submit via the next method.

submitting outside of the golem creator
In this case, we normally ask our friends personally, or cry discreetly on our personal Twitters for guest submissions. (lol) Friends who generously agree to help us out will then be informed of the following guidelines that they would need to adhere to:
- The minimum canvas size is A4 at 150dpi, which is around 1200 x 1700 px in height.
- The deadline for golem submissions is arbitrary, but it must be submitted by the 22nd day of the month before their golem is released. For instance, a contributor wanting to see their adoptable released in February must submit their adoptable by 22 January. This ensures that Elphie and I have ample time to plan and prepare the new items that your golem might use.
- When submitting golems, please ensure that the following information are supplied with it: the name of the golem, the attribute of the golem, story (optional) and artist comments.
- Golems must be submitted privately, through means such as dA Notes, Twitter DMs or e-mail.
Unlike Temael's Golem Creator, there is no specific theme or prompt, so our guest contributors can submit anything they like as long as they meet the above requirements, and can match the quality of adoptables that are featured in our gallery. (We usually only invite friends who we know are as good as or better than us...) This method of submission has the greatest amount of flexibility in creative ideas and deadlines, but less rewards than the Creator. Speaking of rewards...
rewards
We usually give contributors a choice in whether they want to claim their submission rewards or not. Most (all?) of our guest artists are not registered meisters; since they do not need items, most rewards either go unclaimed or claimed, but directed to our community. In other words, guest artists who claim rewards can choose to have their rewards go to the community instead of themselves. Currently, the details for this is still being worked out.
terms and conditions for submitted golems
Golems that are submitted to GMA as guest contributions are subject to the following conditions:
- Guest contributors are not allowed to post the completed illustration of their golem submission anywhere online. This includes cropped thumbnails, no matter how small. Sketches, partially inked or coloured WIPs can however be shared publicly. Please send your file to us immediately as a dropbox or sta.sh link via private means such as Notes or Twitter DMs when you have completed your submission.
- Once submitted and approved, the publishing rights for your golem design belongs to us until it is crafted by someone else. However, we will not claim attribution rights and will still credit the design to you.
- Your submitted golem will be released under our Terms of Usage, so you must agree to the terms that we set out before submitting your design to us. We encourage you to read and understand our Terms of Usage carefully to prevent any misunderstandings. We warmly welcome questions for clarification.
Thanks for reading, and we hope that all contributors have enjoyed submitting art for our community. (^_^)
