Over the years, the definition of meisters has expanded to include golem owners. In Yozellin, there are three widely-recognised groups of meisters.
professional meisters
Professional meisters craft, repair, and train golems for a living. They spend their days buried in research, material gathering and in the console room. Due to the dangers associated with being a meister – such as console accidents or the accelerated decay of their physical body – they are able to charge high premiums for their work. These meisters are also regularly employed on missions such as rescue operations or bodyguarding.
Professional meisters are granted their most basic license upon graduating from the Yozellin School. At this stage, these fresh graduates are required to take on apprentices for a minimum of five years, or until they have accumulated enough accomplishments to excuse themselves from mandatory mentorship. Each graduate is assigned a maximum of three apprentices, who are required to live together with the meister throughout the duration of their apprenticeship. Apprentices are paid a standard salary for their help.
Throughout their career, professional meisters can increase their ranks as they participate in more missions and make contributions to the knowledge base of the scholarly community. Their progress up the hierarchy earns them fame (which makes them more attractive to customers) and influence within the community. The golem meister licence has to be renewed every five years through a process of peer reviewing; meisters wishing to renew their licence would need to submit an application to the Yozellin School, who would then distribute them to a number of other key figures in the scholarly community to be peer-reviewed. Positive reviews would enable them to renew their licence; poor reputation leads to revoked licences. As such, maintaining close connections with other people is part of a meister's job.
The standard equipment of a meister is a console staff, which is used to channel and regulate flows of energy within a console room while crafting. The console staff further serves as a defensive equipment as unstable energy will attack the staff first before a meister in the console room, like lightning to a conductor rod. All professional meisters possess console staves.

meisters-in-training
Student meisters begin their education with years of apprenticeship. They may start at any age they wish, but most start from the age of ten to twelve years old. Throughout their apprenticeship, apprentices assist the mentor meister in their day-to-day tasks in exchange for a standard salary; tasks and assignments that award credits on completion are also issued. When an apprentice has accumulated enough credits, they may apply to sit for the entrance exams. Only on passing the exams will an apprentice secure a seat in the Yozellin School of Golems. Therefore, the speed at which an apprentice graduates from apprenticeship is not tied to a minimum number of study years – rather, they are linked to how quickly the apprentice can clear the assigned tasks proficiently.
Once they are enrolled in the Yozellin School, they will need to take up core subjects and electives. Many classes, such as history, is shared with golem historians or Esirite scholars. All students have to complete assignments and pass exams throughout their five years of education; successful completion of their course will earn them their first license, which allows them to run their own practice, and an obligation to nurture new apprentices for the first five years of their career.

golem owners
Golem owners strictly own golems only; they neither craft golems nor involve themselves with studies and issues related to golems or Esirite technology. Owners are entirely responsible for a golem's well-being and discipline as golems have no access to a number of key basic rights in Yozellin. When a golem misbehaves in public, owners are penalised; ensuring that their golem complies to all the regulations set out by the Council and the City Komne is also their responsibility.
